G28 LLC: Communications & Privacy Policy
This policy explains what G28 collects, why, who sees it, and the choices you have. It applies to g28.io and its subdomains, the Summit app, registration and payment, and the emails, texts and calls G28 sends or answers, before, during and after our events.
Who we are
G28 LLC is a California company based in Tehachapi, California. It runs a community and events business for the machining industry, including the Machining Summit. What we collect
- What you give us: name, email, mobile number, company, job title, your registration and pass, activity choices, sizes and height, your date of birth (needed for mountain activities), travel and lodging details you share, dietary or access needs you choose to tell us, an emergency contact, and anything you tell us when you apply to host or for a scholarship.
- Sign-in: you sign in with a one-time link sent to your email, or with Google or LinkedIn. From those services we receive only your name, email, photo and an account id. If one of them gives us a photo, we use it for your G28 profile unless you remove it. We never see or store your password.
- Payments: Stripe processes card payments. G28 never receives or stores your full card number; we see the card type, last four digits and payment status.
- Signing: when you sign a waiver or agreement on our site, we record the time, your name as typed, the exact text you agreed to, and the internet address and browser you used, as proof of the signature.
- Conversations: the texts, calls and emails you exchange with G28.
- Technical data: basic device and usage information our site needs to run securely, such as log records and the cookies that keep you signed in. Our site uses no advertising or analytics services and no tracking pixels. Some pages show preview pictures of our videos, which your browser fetches from YouTube, so YouTube receives your internet address.
Where else your information comes from
Sometimes we get information about you from someone else:
- the person who booked your pass or named you as the payer;
- an event where you had your badge scanned;
- a partner's or exhibitor's list;
- our past events' registrations;
- public, professional sources.
We use it only for the reason it came to us, and we never overwrite what you've told us. Every email we send you because of it lets you stop with one click. We never text you unless you've said yes yourself. The first time we email you because of it, we tell you where we got your details.
How we use it
To register you and run the events you sign up for; to sign you in; to take payments and issue refunds; to send the messages you agreed to; to keep people safe, including in an emergency; to connect people who should know each other; to improve our events and site; and to meet legal obligations. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for targeted advertising.
What we notice
To run our events and get better at them, we keep a private record of some things you do with us:
- the sessions you vote for (if you voted before signing in, those votes join your account when you sign in);
- the documents and letters you open from us;
- whether our emails reach you (not whether you open them);
- the questions you ask our site.
We also keep:
- a private record of how we know you and the people you work with;
- notes our team writes;
- a history of every change to our records.
All of this is private to G28 staff and the services that run our systems for us, listed below. It's never sold, and never shown to other attendees or to partners.
How G28 uses Ai
G28 uses Ai from Anthropic (Claude). Anthropic processes what we send it for us, under business terms that don't allow it to use our information to train its models. Ai at G28 drafts and suggests; a person decides. Ai never decides on its own whether you get a pass, a seat, a price, a refund or a place in a session.
- Your letter to a manager. If you ask, the Ai drafts the letter asking your manager to pay, from your sessions, your title and your company. It never sees your email, your phone or your manager's address. You read it, change it, and send it yourself. We keep what was drafted and what was sent, to improve the letter for everyone; it is never used to train Ai models.
- Our team's work. G28's staff use Ai tools to work with our records: for example, to draft a message, tidy a session description, or find what we promised someone. Anything the Ai writes about you is checked by a person before it's published or sent.
- Public professional information. When you're part of a G28 event or partnership, we may look up public, professional information about you or your company, such as your company's site or a public profile, to fill in your G28 profile. Nothing found this way is published until a person at G28 approves it, and you can ask us at privacy@g28.io to see, correct or remove it at any time. We look only at professional information: never your personal social media, family, health or home address. We never use it to decide whether you get a pass, a seat or a price.
- Ask Ai. The question box on our site answers from what G28 has published. The questions you ask are kept, and if you sign up during the same visit they're linked to you, so we can answer better and know what people need. It can't sign anything or pay for you. Before your first question, the box tells you that questions are kept and links here. Please don't type anything private into it.
The Ai can be wrong. Your confirmation, your invoice, your agreement and written notices from G28 are the official record.
Text messages
- G28 texts you only if you tick the text-message box when you register or later. The box is never pre-ticked, and agreeing is not a condition of buying anything.
- We record when you agreed and the exact words you agreed to.
- Texts may include order confirmations, sign-in links you request, event updates and reminders, and news about G28's events and community throughout the year.
- Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply.
- Reply STOP to stop texts at any time; we confirm once and send nothing more. Reply START to resume. Reply HELP for help.
- Text consents given on our earlier registration systems do not carry over. If you want texts from the new site, you will be asked to agree again.
- No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text-message opt-in data and consent are never shared with any third party.
- A person at G28 answers texts and calls to 888-428-0360.
Calls
Calls to G28 are not recorded.
We email you about your account, registrations and the events you are attending; you don't need to opt in to those. We send news about G28's events and community throughout the year only if you've said yes to news, or if you came to us from a list that allows it. Every news email has an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing does not stop messages about an event you have paid for.
Who we share it with
- Service providers that run parts of our service for us: Stripe (payments), Twilio (texts, calls and email, including Twilio SendGrid), Vercel (hosting), Supabase (database and files), Anthropic (Ai), Google (G28's own email), and the sign-in services you choose. They may use your information only to provide their service to G28.
- Event operators who need specific details to serve you, such as venues, outfitters, rental shops and shuttle companies, and only the details they need.
- Partners and sponsors get nothing about you. If that ever changes for a specific partner, we'll ask you first, by name, and you can say no.
- When the law requires it, or to protect someone's safety.
- If G28 is sold or reorganized, with the new owner, who must honor this policy.
Photos and video
G28 photographs and films its events. The participation agreement you sign covers how we use images, and how to ask not to appear. Unless you change it, people in the same sessions can see your name, title, company and profile photo. You can choose Public, My sessions or Nobody under "Who can see you" on your profile.
If someone from your company has a pass for a G28 event, your company's name or logo may appear in that event's Who's coming list, unless everyone from your company who registered chose Nobody. To have your company taken off, email privacy@g28.io.
How long we keep it
- Your account: while you have one.
- Questions asked of our site, and our records of Ai use: 2 years.
- Information about people who came to us from a list and never took part: 3 years after it came to us, unless you take part in something with us.
- Health, access and emergency details: deleted 90 days after the event they were collected for.
- Tax and payment records: as long as the law requires.
- Signatures and the text signed: 7 years after the event or the end of the agreement, whichever is later.
- Everything else we notice or keep about you: while you have an account or take part in our events, and up to 3 years after you last do.
Security
Access to your information is limited to the people and services that need it. Passwords and card numbers never touch our systems, by design. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects you, we will tell you as the law requires.
Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
We don't track you across other websites, so there's nothing for a Do Not Track signal to turn off.
Your choices
You can ask to see, correct, download or delete your information, and you can stop texts or emails at any time. Email privacy@g28.io and we respond within 30 days. We do not charge for this, and we treat everyone the same whether or not a law requires it. California residents have these rights under California law, and we will not treat you differently for using them. We confirm it's you by replying to the email address we have for you, and someone you authorize may ask for you. We don't share personal information with anyone for their own marketing, and we haven't sold or shared it in the past 12 months.
Age
Our events and site are for adults working in or around manufacturing. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
Changes
When we change this policy, we post the new version here with its effective date and a short note at the top saying what changed. Every earlier version stays on this page, so you can see exactly what we said and when. If a change would use information you've already given us in a new way, we'll ask you first.

Our Ai assistant
When you text or call 888-428-0360, G28's Ai assistant may answer. It can answer questions about our events and look up your own registration. It can make mistakes, so a person at G28 confirms anything important, such as a refund or a change to your booking. Reply PERSON, or ask on a call, and someone at G28 takes over. We keep these conversations to serve you and improve our answers. The Ai service we use, Anthropic (Claude), processes them for us under terms that do not allow it to use them to train its models.
Calls
Calls to 888-428-0360 are not recorded.
